La L-glutamina es un aminoácido esencial que es un componente crucial de los medios de cultivo donde actúa como una fuente importante de energía para las células en cultivo. La L-glutamina es muy estable en forma de polvo seco y de disolución congelada. En los medios líquidos o las disoluciones de reserva, sin embargo, la L-glutamina se degrada con relativa rapidez. El rendimiento celular óptimo normalmente requiere la suplementación de los medios con L-glutamina antes de su uso.
Glutamine mediates protein turnover via cellular mTOR (mammalian target of rapamycin) signalling. It is also known to be associated with the inhibition of apoptosis.
L-glutamine is an essential amino acid that is a crucial component of culture media, and serves as a major energy source for cells in culture. Optimal cell performance usually requires supplementation of the medium with L-glutamine prior to use.

Application

L-Glutamine has been used as a media supplement:
  • for cochlear organotypic culturing
  • in Iscove′s modified Dulbecco′s medium for HeLa cells culturing
  • in Dulbecco′s modified Eagle′s medium for primary hepatocyte cell culturing

Qualified for use in cell culture applications, especially serum-free cell culture.

Other Notes

The dipeptide L-Ala-LGln is frequently used in modern serum-free media formulations because it provides a more stable form of glutamine in vitro.

50 mL amber serum vial with rubber stopper.

Preparation Note

Prepares a 200 mM solution when reconstituted to 10 mL with sterile water.
