General description

Interleukin-1β (IL-1β) is produced by activated macrophages. It belongs to the IL-1 family of proteins that are involved in the inflammatory response.

Biochem/physiol Actions

Interleukin-1β (IL-1β) stimulates thymocyte proliferation by inducing IL-2 release, B cell maturation and proliferation and fibroblast growth factor activity. IL-1β, in most situations requires the inflammasome complex to be cleaved and secreted. This protein may modulate the effects of eosinophils in the intestine.

Physical form

Lyophilized from PBS.

Preparation Note

Reconstitute with 100 μL deionized water.

Other Notes

Mouse IL-1beta (aa 118-269) is untagged.
