General description

38 kDa
The SLPB gene (stem-loop binding protein) encodes a protein that binds to the stem-loop structure of replication-dependent histone pre-mRNAs. Histone mRNA lack a polyadenylation signal. Consequently, the interaction of this protein with histone pre-mRNA contributes to efficient 3′ end processing by stabilizing the complex between the pre-mRNA and U7 small nuclear ribonucleoprotein (snRNP). Expression of this protein is regulated during the cell cycle, increasing more than 10-fold during the latter part of G1.

Confocal fluorescent analysis of NIH/3T3 cells using 06-1376 (Red). Actin filaments have been labeled with AlexaFluor488 -Phalloidin (Green). Nucleus is stained with DAPI (Blue). This antibody positively stains cytoplasm and nucleus.
