General description
Mossel Broth is a selective enrichment media for bile-tolerant, Gram-negative bacteria, and particularly Enterobacteriaceae such as Salmonella, Shigella, and other enteric pathogens from non-sterile pharmaceutical products, foodstuff, and other materials. Glucose is the main energy source and supports the rapid growth of all Enterobacteriaceae. The enzymatic digest of animal tissue provides nitrogen, vitamins, and amino acids. The high buffering capacity of the culture medium prevents the acid formed from killing the culture. The undesired accompanying bacterial flora is completely inhibited by brilliant green and bile.
Application
Mossel Broth is designed for selective enrichment of bile-tolerant, Gram-negative bacteria, particularly Enterobacteriaceae such as Salmonella, Shigella and other enteric pathogens from non-sterile pharmaceutical products, foodstuff, and other materials.
