General description

A polyene antifungal antibiotic that non-specifically induces loss of low molecular weight substances from cells. Binds to sterols and disrupts osmotic integrity of fungal membrane. Causes suppression of bone marrow progenitor cells.
An antifungal agent. A polyene antibiotic that nonspecifically induces the loss of low molecular weight substances from cells. Causes suppression of bone marrow progenitor cells. Probably forms channels by complexing with membrane cholesterol. Effective against fungi and yeast at concentrations of 1-10 µg/ml.
