General description

Native ascorbate oxidase from Cucurbita species. A multi-copper-containing oxidase that catalyzes oxidation of ascorbic acid to dehydroascorbic acid. AO catalyses the four-electron reduction of dioxygen to water with concominant one-electron oxidation of the reducing organic substrate. Suitable for eliminating interference of ascorbic acid in clinical assays and for determination of ascorbic acid. Inhibited by azide, dithiocarbamate, and thiocyanate.

Preparation Note

Following reconstitution refrigerate (4°C). This Stock solutions are stable for up to 3 weeks at 4°C.

Other Notes

One unit is defined as the amount of enzyme that will oxidize 1.0 µmol ascorbic acid per min at 37°C, pH 5.6.
