General description

Recombinant, human macrophage colony-stimulating factor expressed in E. coli. Stimulates formation of macrophage colonies from bone marrow hematopoietic progenitor cells. Induces cell death in HIV-1 infected monocytes. Human M-CSF is active in murine systems and the recombinant cytokine is indistinguishable from the natural M-CSF in all biological assays tested.

Biochem/physiol Actions

ED₅₀ = 0.5-1.5 ng/ml as measured in a cell proliferation assay using the M-CSF-dependent mouse monocytic cell line, M-NFS-60

Physical form

Lyophilized from sterile-filtered PBS, 50 µg of BSA/µg M-CSF.

Preparation Note

Following reconstitution, aliquot and freeze (-70°C) for long term storage or refrigerate (4°C) for short term storage. Stock solutions are stable for 1 month at 4°C or for 3 months at -70°C.
Reconstitute to a concentration of ≥1 mg/ml with sterile PBS containing ≥0.1% HSA or BSA.
