General description
Recombinant, rat fibroblast growth factor (FGF) basic consisting of amino acids 11-154 and expressed in E. coli. FGF basic, a member of the FGF family of mitogenic peptides, is known to bind heparine or cell surface heparin sulfate proteoglycans for binding, dimerization, and activation of tyrosine kinase FGF receptors. Also known to bind polysaccharides, proteins, and lipids with lower affinity.
Biochem/physiol Actions
ED₅₀ = 0.3-1.8 ng/ml as measured in a cell proliferation assay using NR6R-3T3 mouse fibroblasts.
Physical form
Lyophilized from 0.2 µm filtered MOPS, Na₂SO₄, EDTA, DTT, BSA.
Preparation Note
Reconstitute to 100 µg/ml in sterile PBS containing at least 0.1% human or bovine serum albumin.
