General description

Recombinant, human interleukin-13 expressed in E. coli. Pleiotropic cytokine that shares many of the properties of IL-4. Exhibits IL-4-like activities on monocytes/macrophages and human B cells but has no effect on T cells. A potent regulator of STAT6 and JAK3 in NK and T cells. Regulates inflammatory and immune responses. Inhibits inducible nitric oxide synthase in human mesangial cells.

Biochem/physiol Actions

ED₅₀ = 0.5-2.5 ng/ml as measured in a cell proliferation assay using a human factor-dependent cell line, TF-1

Physical form

Lyophilized from sterile-filtered PBS, pH 7.4.

Preparation Note

Following reconstitution, aliquot and freeze (-70°C) for long term storage or refrigerate (4°C) for short term storage. Stock solutions are stable for up to 1 month at 4°C. Avoid freeze/thaw cycles of solutions.
Reconstitute to a concentration of ≥5 µg/ml with sterile PBS.
