General description
50kDa
Pregnane X receptor (PXR) is a nuclear receptor and is similar in form to PPAR and RXR. PXR is activated by a large number of endogenous and exogenous chemicals including steroids and antibiotics. One of the key roles of PXR is the induction of CYP3A4, an P450 enzyme that is responsible for the metabolism of many drugs.

The most common clinical implication for the activation of the human pregnane X receptor (PXR) is the occurrence of drug-drug interactions mediated by up-regulated cytochromes P450 3A (CYP3A) isozymes. Typical rodent models do not predict drug-drug interactions mediated by human

The human pregnane X receptor (hPXR) is a xenobiotic-sensing nuclear receptor that transcriptionally regulates drug metabolism-related genes. The aim of the present study was to elucidate the mechanism by which hPXR is regulated through threonine-408. A phosphomimetic mutation at threonine-408
