Gene Information

human ... CEP192(55125)

General description

279.11 kDa calculated.
Centrosomal protein of 192 kDa (UniProt: Q8TEP8; also known as Cep192) is encoded by the CEP192 (also known as KIAA1569, PP8407) gene (Gene ID: 55125) in human. Cep192 is localized to the pericentriolar region in mitotic centrosomes. It is required for mitotic centrosome and spindle assembly and appears to be a major regulator of pericentriolar material (PCM) recruitment, centrosome maturation, and centriole duplication. It stimulates the formation of the scaffolding upon which gamma tubulinring complexes and other proteins involved in microtubule nucleation and spindle assembly become functional during mitosis. Cep192 is reported to bind Aurora A and Plk1 and targets them to centrosomes in a pericentrin-dependent manner, and promotes sequential activation of both kinases via T-loop phosphorylation. The Cep192-bound Plk1 then phosphorylates Cep192 at several residues, thereby generating attachment sites for the gamma-tubulin ring complex and other pericentriolar material components, which promotes their recruitment and subsequent microtubule nucleation. Immunogen

His-tagged recombinant fragment corresponding to 299 amino acids from the C-terminal region of human Centrosomal protein of 192 kDa (CEP192).

Application

Anti-CEP192, Cat. No. ABE1965, is a highly specific rabbit polyclonal antibody that targets Centrosomal protein of 192 kDa and has been tested in Flow Cytometry and Immunofluorescence.
Immunofluorescence Analysis: A representative lot detected CEP192 in U2OS cells (Park, S.Y., et. al. (2014). Nat Struct Mol Biol. 21(8):696-703).

Biochem/physiol Actions

This polyclonal antibody detects CEP192 in human. It targets an epitope within 299 amino acids from the C-terminal region.
