Gene Information
human ... MEPE(56955)
General description
The protein with the gene name MEPE and the protein name of Matrix extracellular phosphoglycoprotein or Osteoblast/osteocyte factor 45 (OF45) is an important secreted protein expressed by osteoblasts which promotes mineralization in bone. New research interestingly indicates that cancer cells that over express MEPE/OF45 show an increased resistance to radiation therapy, thus OF45 is being examined as a potentially new target for sensitizing tumor cells to radiochemotherapy. MEPE/OF45 is highly expressed by osteoblasts and osteocytes and my multiple cancer cell types and regulated by growth factors such as FGF-2 which acts to lower expression of the protein in normal cells.
~65 kDa observed. The calculated molecular weight of this protein is 58 kDa, but can be observed at ~45-62 kDa due to high glycosylation.
Immunogen
Recombinant protein corresponding to human MEPE.
Application
Anti-MEPE Antibody, clone LFMb-33 | MABC540 is an antibody against MEPE Antibody for use in Western Blotting, Immunohistochemistry.
