General description
Cobalt(II) nitrate hexahydrate is an inorganic compound soluble in water. It is used as a precursor for the synthesis of cobalt-containing ceramic materials, such as cobalt ferrites and cobalt-doped titanium dioxide, which have magnetic, electrical, and photocatalytic properties. In addition, it finds use in electrochemical applications, such as in lithium-ion battery cathodes and fuel cell catalysts, due to the redox activity.

- As a vital precursor to generate nickel-rich cathode materials (NMC, NCA) for lithium-ion batteries using co-precipitation process because of its simplicity, ease of scale-up, and ability to produce a homogeneous structure at the particle scale.
