Application

O-Phospho-L-tyrosine has been used:
  • as a diluent of anti-phosphotyrosine antibody to study sperm capacitation
  • as an amino acid standard in liquid chromatography with tandem mass spectrometry (LC-MS-MS) analysis
  • as an amino acid standard in two-dimensional thin-layer electrophoresis system to analyze phosphoamino acids on the phosphorylated starch phosphorylase (L-SP)

Biochem/physiol Actions

Phosphotyrosine acts as a docking site in protein regulation by stimulating interaction between tyrosine-phosphorylated proteins and phosphotyrosine domains of other proteins.

Mammalian sperm undergo a series of biochemical and physiological changes collectively known as capacitation in order to acquire the ability to fertilize. Although the increase in phosphorylation associated with mouse sperm capacitation is well established, the identity of the proteins
