General description
Sodium phosphate dibasic heptahydrate is a hydrated form of disodium phosphate (DSP) or disodium hydrogen orthophosphate. DSP is widely used as a pH regulator and saline laxative.
Application
A mixture of sodium phosphate dibasic heptahydrate, potassium phosphate monobasic, and NaCl in deionized water is used for the preparation of phosphate-buffered saline (PBS, pH 7.4). PBS is used as a buffer solution in biological research to keep the pH constant.

Through the asymmetric distribution of messenger RNAs (mRNAs), cells spatially regulate gene expression to create cytoplasmic domains with specialized functions. In neurons, mRNA localization is required for essential processes such as cell polarization, migration, and synaptic plasticity underlying long-term memory
