Application
Triamcinolone has been used as a corticosteroid standard for LC-MS-MS analysis. Triamcinolone has also been used to study its effect on IgG and IgE levels in peripheral blood mononuclear cells (PBMCs)
Biochem/physiol Actions
Triamcinolone is a synthetic glucocorticoid agonist; induces gene expression and apoptosis; inhibits prostaglandin synthesis; impairs tumor necrosis factor (TNF)-α-induced degradation of κB-α; potentiates the differentiation-inducing effects of bone morphogenetic proteins (BMP-2, -4, -6).

Hydrocortisone (HC) as well as its synthetic derivatives have been shown to strongly enhance interleukin-4 (IL-4)-induced in vitro IgE synthesis. To investigate possible effects on IgG subclasses, peripheral blood mononuclear cells (PBMC) were incubated with different glucocorticosteroids in the absence

Airway epithelial cells are among the first cells to come in contact with aerosolized corticosteroids. However, the relative potencies and time course of action of the several commonly used aerosolized corticosteroids on eicosanoid production by airway epithelial cells are unknown.
