General description

1-palmitoyl-2-azelaoyl-sn-glycero-3-phosphocholine (PAzePC) structure contains an anionic carboxyl group at the end of the short, oxidized acyl chain.

Application

1-palmitoyl-2-azelaoyl-sn-glycero-3-phosphocholine (PazePC) may be used as an oxidized lipid dopant in liposomes for examining the link between the permeation of H2O2 and the structure of lipid membranes. It may also be used as lysosomal phospholipase A2 substrate in the study of structural basis for Zn2+ mediated inhibition of lysosomal phospholipase A2.

Biochem/physiol Actions

1-palmitoyl-2-azelaoyl-sn-glycero-3-phosphocholine (PazePC) is a stable lipid oxidation product. It serves as an inter-H2O2 permeation promoter. It is the most common drug target for antipsychotic and antimicrobial agents in cells under oxidative stress at inflammatory sites.
