Application

In GC, chloroform is employed as a solvent for dissolving and extracting analytes prior to injection. It is particularly effective in separating:
  • Hydrophobic organic compounds such as hydrocarbons, pesticides, and industrial solvents.
  • Environmental pollutants from water or soil samples, where chloroform is used in liquid-liquid extraction (LLE) to isolate target compounds for GC analysis.
OmniSolv®
Stabilized with Ethanol.

General description

Chloroform is a widely used organic solvent in chromatographic workflows, particularly in Gas Chromatography (GC) and High-Performance Liquid Chromatography (HPLC). Its role is primarily in sample preparation, where it facilitates the extraction and separation of organic compounds—especially non-polar and moderately polar analytes—from complex matrices.
