Stabilin-2 (UniProt: Q8R4U0; also known as Fasciclin, EGF-like, laminin-type EGF-like and link domain-containing scavenger receptor 2, FEEL-2, FAS1 EGF-like and X-link domain-containing adhesion molecule 2, Hyaluronan receptor for endocytosis) is encoded by the Stab2 (also known as Feel2, Hare) gene (Gene ID: 192188) in murine species Stabilin-2 functions as a mammalian endocytic clearance receptor for hyaluronic acid (HA), heparin, advanced glycation end-products, acetylated and oxidized low-density lipoproteins and collagen N-terminal propeptides. Stabilin-2 is a single-pass type I membrane protein and is synthesized with a signal peptide (aa 1-28), which is subsequently cleaved off to produce the mature protein that contains a large extracellular domain (aa 29-2464), a transmembrane domain (aa 2465-2485), and a cytoplasmic domain (aa 2486-2559). The extracellular domain contains multiple domains, including EGF-like, fasciclin, and Laminin EGF-like, which are essential for its ligand-binding capabilities and interaction with the endocytic machinery, particularly clathrin and AP-2 complexes. It is highly expressed in sinusoidal endothelial cells of liver, spleen, bone marrow, lymph nodes, in specialised structures of eye, heart, brain and kidney. Stab2 facilitates binding of lymphocyte to sinusoidal endothelium by interacting with Mβ2 and 5β5 integrins. In mice, Stab-2 might assist in separating hyaluronan from the lymph or the blood circulation through the network of endothelial sinuses. The protein also exhibits endocytic scavenger receptor activity. It is suggested that Stabilin-2 may contribute to atherosclerosis and other inflammatory conditions. Additionally, genetic variants in the STAB2 gene have been associated with altered plasma levels of von Willebrand factor, linking this receptor to various hematological disorders. This clone 3.1, mouse monoclonal antibody recognizes both human and mouse full-length stabilin-2, and has been validated by Immunohistochemistry, Immunofluorescence and flow cytometry.
