General description

A cell-permeable benzothiazole dye that exhibits enhanced fluorescence upon binding to amyloid fibrils. Useful in monitoring stacked β sheet aggregates. Associates with aggregated fibrils of synthetic β/A4-derived peptides β(1-28) and β(1-40), resulting in a shift in the excitation maximum and an enhanced emission. Excitation max.: ~385 nm (free); ~437 nm (bound); emission max.: ~445 nm (free); ~485 nm (bound).
