General description
KT5823 is a protein kinase inhibitor. It inhibits guanosine monophosphate (GMP)-dependent protein kinase activity (cGK). It is a staurosporine compound, which promotes the thyroid-stimulating hormone and regulates Na+/I− symporter (NIS) expression.
Application
KT 5823 has been used as cyclic guanosine monophosphate (cGMP)-dependent protein kinase (PKG) inhibitor in cortical cultures, cortical neurons and in mouse brain capillary endothelial cells.
Biochem/physiol Actions
Selective inhibitor of PKG.
Features and Benefits
This compound is featured on the PKA & PKG page of the Handbook of Receptor Classification and Signal Transduction. To browse other handbook pages, click here.

Nitric oxide synthase (NOS) immunoreactivity is present in goldfish gonadotrophs. The present study investigated whether two native goldfish gonadotrophin-releasing hormones (GnRHs), salmon (s)GnRH and chicken (c)GnRH-II, use NOS/nitric oxide (NO) and soluble guanylate cyclase (sGC)/cyclic (c)GMP/protein kinase G (PKG) signalling

Nitric oxide (NO) plays an important role in acute ischemic preconditioning (IPC). In addition to activating soluble guanylyl cyclase (sGC)/cyclic guanosine monophosphate (cGMP)/protein kinase G (PKG) signaling pathways, NO-mediated protein S-nitros(yl)ation (SNO) has been recently shown to play an essential
