General description

Crotonic acid undergoes esterification with butan-2-ol by following second order reaction kinetics.

Application

Crotonic acid is used in the copolymerization of crotonic acid hydrogel systems by using gamma-rays. The crosslinked copolymeric crotonic acid hydrogels release fertilizers and drugs that help to prevent environmental pollution.

Preparation Note

Crotonic acid dissolves in water at a concentartion of 100 mg/ml to yield a clear, colorless solution.

Bacterial synthesis of polyhydroxybutyrates (PHBs) is a potential approach for producing biodegradable plastics. This study assessed the ability of Rhodopseudomonas palustris TIE-1 to produce PHBs under various conditions. We focused on photoautotrophy using a poised electrode (photoelectroautotrophy) or ferrous iron

Previously we demonstrated that an entire bacterial operon (the PRN operon) is expressible in plants when driven by the Tomato -yellow-leaf-curl-virus (TYLCV) -derived universal vector IL-60.Petroleum-derived plastics are not degradable, and are therefore harmful to the environment. Azotobacter vinelandii is a bacterium that produces alginate and polyhydroxybutyrate (P3HB); however, the role of NAD(P)H/NAD(P) The results reveal that changes in the oxygen availability have an important effect on the metabolic fluxes and intracellular NADPH/NADP We have demonstrated that
