General description

Phosphoserine/phosphatidylserine (PS) is an endogenous phospholipid, that is found in all polyanionic macromolecules like bone, enamel and dentin.

Application

06:0 PS may be used:
  • to study its effect on α-syn (α-synuclein) oligomerization by DA (dopamine)
  • to prepare phosphatidylserine (PS) liposomes
  • as a phospholipid substrate to determine the kinetic parameters for phospholipase C by chromogenic assay

Biochem/physiol Actions

Phosphoserine (PS) can be used as a template moiety for the recognition of cancer antigen 125 (CA 125). It is essential for healthy nerve cell membranes and myelin. Exogenous PS can be actively absorbed in humans and is blood-brain barrier traversable. PS actively participates in the locomotor functions.
