General description
Glucose, the most abundant natural monosaccharide, serves asthe universal fuel for living cells. In plants, it accumulates in fruits andother tissues in its free form; in animals, it circulates in the bloodstreamand is taken up by cells to power glycolysis, the pentose-phosphate pathway(providing NADPH for biosynthesis and redox control), and the tricarboxylicacid (TCA) cycle coupled to oxidative phosphorylation to generate ATP.
Quantitative measurement of glucose in serum, plasma, urineor culture media underpins metabolic research (including flux analysis andinsulin-signaling studies), and disease modeling (such as the Warburg effect incancer and investigations into oxidative-stress pathways or glycogen storagedisorders).
The GAHK20 enzymatic glucose assay kit, based on theglucose/hexokinase reaction offers high sensitivity, a broad linear range, andcompatibility with high-throughput screening and detailed mechanistic studiesof metabolic health and disease.

Insulin integrates hepatic glucose and lipid metabolism, directing nutrients to storage as glycogen and triglyceride. In type 2 diabetes, levels of the former are low and the latter are exaggerated, posing a pathophysiologic and therapeutic conundrum. A branching model of

We describe a new chronological lifespan (CLS) assay for the yeast Schizosaccharomyces pombe. Yeast CLS assays monitor the loss of cell viability in a culture over time, and this new assay shows a continuous decline in viability without detectable regrowth

CDGSH iron sulfur domain-containing protein 1 (CISD-1) belongs to the CISD protein family that is evolutionary conserved across different species. In mammals, CISD-1 protein has been implicated in diseases such as cancers and diabetes. As a tractable model organism to

Oxidative stress is associated with cardiometabolic traits in observational studies, yet the underlying causal relationship remains unclear. Apolipoprotein E-deficient (Apoe-/-) mice develop significant hyperlipidemia and hyperglycemia on a Western diet. Here we conducted linkage analysis to investigate genetic connections between

An integral bioprocess to produce lactic acid (LA) from banana peel (BP) was studied. Oxidases produced by Trametes versicolor and hydrolases produced by Aspergillus flavipes and Aspergillus niger saccharified BP at optimal conditions: 230 rpm, 66 g/L BP, and 73.5% (v/v) of
