Biochem/physiol Actions

Alnustone is a diarylheptanoid isolated from Alpinia katsumadai Hayata, rhizomes of Curcuma xanthorrhiza and other plants that exhibits anti-hyperglycemic, anti-inflammatory, antihepatotoxic and antiemetic activities. Alnustone is a potent inhibitor of the Thyroid Adenoma Associated (THADA) function, which reverses THADA-induced β-cell dysfunction and ameliorate hyperglycemia in obese mice. It significantly decreases fed blood glucose and improved glucose tolerance in mice.
