General description

Acrylonitrile (AN) is a volatile liquid mostly used in manufacturing plastics and polymers.

Application

AN may have been used as standard during headspace gas chromatography for the determination of AN monomer in plastic containers and carbonated beverages.
Acrylonitrile is used in the manufacture of acrylic fibers, resins (acrylonitrile butadiene-styrene, styrene-acrylonitrile and others) and nitrile rubbers (butadiene-acrylonitrile).
Refer to the product′s Certificate of Analysis for more information on a suitable instrument technique. Contact Technical Service for further support.

Biochem/physiol Actions

An industrial carcinogen that is a multisite carcinogen in rats and possibly carcinogenic to humans.
