General description
Interleukin-10 (IL-10), originally known as Cytokine Synthesis Inhibitory Factor (CSIF) is an 18.7 kDa protein of 160 amino acid residues that shares over 80% sequence homology with the Epstein-Barr Virus protein BCRFI. IL-10 down regulates the expression of Th1 cytokines, major histocompatibility complex class II antigens, and costimulatory molecules on macrophages. It also enhaces B cell survival, proliferation, and antibody production. Knockout studies suggest that IL-10 is an immunoregulator in the intestinal tract.
~18 kDa observed.
Immunogen
