General description
OptiPrep™ Density Gradient Medium, also known as iodixanol, is a low osmolarity, non-ionic iodinated density gradient medium. It is a sterile and endotoxin-tested solution that comprises 60% (w/v) iodixanol in water, designed for the in vitro isolation of biological particles. It may be used for fractionation and separation of cell and subcellular organelles.
Application
OptiPrep™ has been used to isolate molecules, cells, and subcellular organelles, including DNA, cytokines, lysosomes, endoplasmic reticulum, peroxisomes, T lymphocytes, and natural killer cells. It has also been used for the following applications:
- to investigate the efficiency of single-cell encapsulation.
- the gradient-based isolation of senescent cancer cells.
- isolation of non-enveloped virion isolation from bronchoalveolar lavage.
- isolation of lipoproteins and macromolecules
- purification of virions
- purification of neuron cells
