General description

Geraniol is a monoterpene alcohol that occurs as one of the main flavor constituents in Kansho-shochu, sweet basil, hopped beer and green tea.

Application


  • Pectin/sodium alginate-based active film integrated with microcrystalline cellulose and geraniol for food packaging applications.: Investigates the use of geraniol in developing biodegradable active packaging films, emphasizing its role in enhancing antimicrobial properties (Hoque et al., 2024).

  • The enhancement of flowery-like aroma in green tea under optimized processing conditions by sensory-directed flavor analysis.: Explores how geraniol enhances the flowery-like aroma in green tea, with a focus on sensory evaluation and optimization of processing conditions (Wang et al., 2024).

  • Antifungal activity of bio-active cell-free culture extracts and volatile organic compounds (VOCs) synthesised by endophytic fungal isolates of Garden Nasturtium.: Discusses the synthesis of VOCs including geraniol by fungal isolates, highlighting their antifungal activities against plant pathogens (Santra et al., 2024).
