General description

Sodium bicarbonate is commonly known as baking soda. It serves as a source of carbon dioxide and is used to prepare a variety of sodium salts. It is also an important pH-regulating agent.

Application

Sodium bicarbonate can be used as a reactant to synthesize monosodium Schiff bases by the condensation reaction of aldehydes and amino acids.
