General description

Span® 80 is a nonionic surfactant.

Application

Span® 80 has been used in a study to assess transfersomes as a transdermal delivery system for sertraline. It has also been used in a study to investigate the dominant factors affecting the stability of nanoemulsions through the use of artificial neural networks (ANNs).

Other Notes

Fatty acid composition: Oleic acid (C18:1) ≤ 60%; balance primarily linoleic (C18:2), linolenic (C18:3) and palmitic (C16:0) acids.

The aim of the present study was to investigate transfersomes as a transdermal delivery system for the poorly soluble drug, sertraline, in order to overcome the troubles associated with its oral delivery. Different transfersomal formulations were prepared with non-ionic surfactant

Nonionic surfactant vesicles, or SPANosomes (SPs), comprised of cationic lipid and sorbitan monooleate (Span 80) were synthesized and evaluated as small interfering RNA (siRNA) vectors. The SPs had a mean diameter of less than 100 nm and exhibited excellent colloidal

This study is the first to investigate and demonstrate the potential of microemulsions (MEs) for sustained release parenteral drug delivery, due to phase transition behavior in aqueous environments. Phase diagrams were constructed with Miglyol 812N oil and a blend of
