Bioactive Small Molecule Inhibitors

Often used to probe biological processes in life science research or as therapeutics in drug development, bioactive small molecule (BSM) inhibitors are chemical compounds that inhibit enzyme activity. By binding to specific sites on the protein, BSM inhibitors alter the activity of that protein. This makes them crucial for therapeutic and drug development.
Our extensive portfolio of highly effective BSM inhibitors contains fit-for-purpose probes that are ideal for validating therapeutic targets, novel drug development, and investigating biological processes.

Small Molecule Inhibitors
Crucial tools for investigating enzymatic function, protein-protein interactions, or cell signaling pathways, small molecule inhibitors are used by researchers to gain a deeper understanding of disease states and develop novel therapeutics. By using BSM inhibitors as lead compounds to interrogate protein interactions and pathways, researchers can develop novel therapeutics with greater efficacy and selectivity. In life science research, BSM inhibitors can also be used to validate activity against a known protein target. Two examples of our small molecule inhibitors used in biological research are Imatinib and Vorinostat:
- Imatinib, a tyrosine kinase inhibitor, inhibits the fusion protein BCR-ABL. This protein is found in individuals who suffer from chronic myeloid leukemia (CML).
- Vorinostat, also known as suberoylanilide hydroxamic acid (SAHA), is a reversible pan-histone deacetylase (HDAC) inhibitor. It can be used to study cell signaling, transcription and gene regulation, and the cell cycle.
