General description

L′alcool isopropylique (IPA, 2-propanol, isopropanol) est un alcool aliphatique hydrosoluble à l′odeur sucrée. C′est l′un des composés volatils de la saveur du Tricholoma matsutake, un champignon utilisé dans les plats japonais pour son arôme. L′IPA est également l′un des principaux constituants de la saveur de l′essence de citron.

Application

Isopropyl alcohol has been used:
  • in oil red O staining of the adipocytes to dissolve the stain and extract the stain from the cell
  • as a component of the saponification and acetylacetone reagent and to prepare triglyceride standard stock solution to extract liver triglyceride (TG)
  • to flush through the microfluidic device before experiments to effectively remove air bubbles from the channels
