Application

L'éthylène glycol peut être utilisé comme réactif dans les réactions de cyclocondensation avec des aldéhydes et des cétones pour former des 1,3-dioxolanes.
Il a été utilisé :
  • comme fluide porteur dans la fabrication de fluide rhéoépaississant (composé de nanoparticules de silice)
  • dans la composition de solutions de prévitrification et de vitrification pour la cryoconservation d'embryons de souris.

General description

L'éthylène glycol (EG) est un polyol utilisé dans un large éventail d'applications industrielles. Sa préparation à partir de cellulose a été signalée. Il peut également être produit à partir de combustibles fossiles (pétrole, gaz naturel et charbon) et de ressources dérivées de la biomasse.
