General description

Macrophage Colony-Stimulating Factor (M-CSF) is a hematopoietic growth factor, which modulates the proliferation, differentiation and functional activation of monocytes. It is produced by fibroblasts, endothelial cells and bone marrow stromal cells. MCSF stimulates the functions of mature monocytes and macrophages.

Application

Macrophage Colony-Stimulating Factor human has been used for the differentiation of bone marrow-derived macrophages (BMDMs) and human monocyte-derived macrophages (MDMs). It has also been used for cell culture.

Biochem/physiol Actions

Macrophage colony-stimulating factor (M-CSF) augments many of the physiological functions of macrophages, and support osteoclast differentiation.

Physical form

Lyophilized from a sterile filtered buffered solution.

Analysis Note

The proliferative activity is tested in culture using the cytokine-dependent murine monocytic cell line M-NFS-60 cells.

Other Notes

159 amino acids including N-terminal methionine (each monomer).

Storage Class

11 - Combustible Solids
