Studies have linked this protein to the inhibition of NFkappaB-mediated signaling. Additional studies have shown an association of STAT5B with regulation of lactation and growth, performance, and control of adipocyte function. Constitutively active STAT5B expression is often observed in a large number of leukemia’s and solid tumors.

The phenotypic features are consistent with growth hormone deficiency in the presence of normal to elevated circulating concentrations of growth hormone, and resistance to hexogeneous hormone therapy.
