Gene Information

General description

Fbxl16, also known as F-box/LRR repeat protein 16, F-box and leucine-rich repeat protein 16, and encoded by the gene Fbxl16, is the protein responsible for the substrate recognition of SCF. SCF is the SKP1-CUL1-F-box protein- type E3 ubiquitin ligase complex. The Skp1-Cul1-F-box protein (SCF) complex is one of the most well-characterized types of ubiquitin ligase E3 proteins, with the E3 activity of the complex being regulated in part at the level of complex formation. The complex has important roles in the ubiquitination of proteins involved in the cell cycle and also marks various other cellular proteins for destruction. Fbxl16 appears to be a novel E2F1-regulated gene whose expression can be up regulated when particular cell cycle proteins are disrupted, and thus Fbxl16 expression is often high in cancerous tumors.
~52 kDa observed. Uncharacterized band(s) may be observed in some cell lysates.

Immunogen

KLH-conjugated linear peptide corresponding to mouse Fbxl16.

Application

Anti-Fbxl16 Antibody detects level of Fbxl16 & has been published & validated for use in Fbxl16.
Immunohistochemistry Analysis: A 1:500 dilution from a representative lot detected Fbxl16 in human cerebral cortex and thalamus tissues.

Immunohistochemistry Analysis: A 1:50 dilution from a representative lot detected Fbxl16 in human ileum tissues.

Western Blotting Analysis: 1 µg/mL of this antibody detected Fbxl16 in NIH/3T3 cell lysates, which were untransfected, transfected with Myc-tagged Fbxl16, and transfected with a negative control siRNA, and not in NIH/3T3 cell lysate transfected with Fbxl16 siRNA (Prof. Ray De Shaies, California Institute of Technology, Pasadena.).
