Anti-Gcn5 Antibody

Histone acetyltransferase KAT2A (EC 2.3.1.48; UniProt Q92830; also known as General control of amino acid synthesis protein 5-like 2, hGCN5, Histone acetyltransferase GCN5, HsGCN5, Lysine acetyltransferase 2A, STAF97) is encoded by the KAT2A (also known as GCN5, GCN5L2, HGCN5) gene (Gene ID 2648) in human. Histone acetyltransferases (HATs) are transcription co-activators recruited by transcriptional activators to target gene promoters, where they enhance the transcription activity by acetylating lysine residues within the N-terminal regions of histones. KAT2A/KAT2B, MYST (MOZ, Ybf2 (Sas3), Sas2, and Tip60), TAFII250, CREBBP/EP300, and SRC represent the five HAT families. In addtion to functioning as transcription co-activators, KAT2A (GCN5) and KAT2B (PCAF) are also reported to repress IFN‐β production and innate antiviral immunity by inhibiting the innate immune signaling kinase TBK1 in the cytoplasm in a HAT‐independent and non‐transcriptional manner.

Chromatin Immunoprecipitation (ChIP) Analysis: A representative lot immunoprecipitated KAT2A/GCN5-associated DNA fragments by ChIP using chromatin preparations from murine CH12 and human GM12878 lymphoblasts (Cheng, Y., et al. (2014). Nature. 515(7527):371-375).

This polyclonal antibody was raised against human KAT2A isoform GCN5-L N-terminal sequence that is 95% conserved in murine and rat Kat2a/Gcn5, but missing in human spliced isoform GCN5-S (UniProt Q92830-2).
