General description
DNA dC->dU-editing enzyme APOBEC-3A/-3B/-3G (UniProt: P31941/Q9UH17/Q9HC16) is encoded by the APOBEC-3A/-3B/-3G gene (Gene ID: 200315/9582/) in human. The APOBEC3 family of cytosine deaminases catalyze the deamination of cytidine to uridine in single-stranded DNA and RNA. There are seven APOBEC3 enzymes: A3A, A3B, A3C, A3D, A3F, A3G, and A3H. They play essential roles in innate immunity by restricting by restricting the replication of various viruses. On the other hand, their aberrant activities can drive mutagenesis of virus and cancer genomes. A3 proteins have been implicated in the evolution of viruses, causing severe manifestations such as drug resistance and/or immune evasion. (Ref: Jonathan, M., and Ikeda, T., (2023), Front. Quality Control Testing
Evaluated by Western Blotting in BT-474 cell lysate.
