Este anticuerpo reacciona con una banda de peso molecular de 25 kDa en geles de membranas plaquetarias no reducidas e inmunoprecipita una banda similar de plaquetas marcadas con yodo-125. El antígeno se expresa en eosinófilos, granulocitos, monocitos y numerosas células del estroma. Este antígeno CD9 pertenece a la superfamilia TM4 de proteínas de superficie celular con los N y C terminales localizados en el citoplasma.
