Application

El monoclorhidrato de L-arginina se ha utilizado para estudiar los efectos de los aminoácidos en la promoción del consumo de alimentos en Drosophila melanogaster. También se ha utilizado para desarrollar un modelo de pancreatitis crónica no invasiva de rata.

Biochem/physiol Actions

La L-arginina es un aminoácido semiesencial. Este aminoácido dibásico actúa como precursor de la creatinina y es un constituyente natural de la mayoría de las proteínas alimentarias.
Sustrato de la óxido nítrico sintasa, que se convierte en citrulina y óxido nítrico (NO). Induce la liberación de insulina mediante un mecanismo dependiente del óxido nítrico.
