Application
3-Nitro-L-tyrosine has been used in:
- western blot analysis to quantify the nitrotyrosine levels in mice tissue protein
- Murashige–Skoog medium to treat wild type and mitogen-activated protein kinase 6 (mpk6)-2 mutant seedlings for inferring the connection between nitric oxide (NO) and MPK6 functions in the regulation of mitotic microtubule organization
- immunocytochemistry
Biochem/physiol Actions
3-Nitro-L-tyrosine is an oxidant and cytotoxic agent. 3-Nitrotyrosine serves as a biological marker of proteins modified by nitrogen-free radical species in systemic autoimmunogenic conditions. It is a marker for oxidative damage mediated by peroxynitrite. Nitrotyrosine is associated with VEGF-C expression and lymph node metastasis in breast cancer. 3-Nitrotyrosine is produced due to oxidative/nitrosative stress-mediated chemical modifications such as nitration of proteins, which is observed in lung carcinogenesis.

Consumption of a high-fat/high-fructose Western diet (WD) is linked to rising obesity and heart disease, particularly diastolic dysfunction which characterizes early obesity/metabolic cardiomyopathy. Mounting evidence supports a role for inflammation, oxidative stress and fibrosis in the pathophysiology of metabolic cardiomyopathy.

Chronic anthracycline (ANT) cardiotoxicity is a serious complication of cancer chemotherapy. Molsidomine, a NO-releasing drug, has been found cardioprotective in different models of I/R injury and recently in acute high-dose ANT cardiotoxicity. Hence, we examined whether its cardioprotective effects are
