General description

Paraplast Plus® is a refined mixture of highly purified paraffin containing complex elastomer of regulated molecular weights plus a small percentage of dimethyl sulfoxide (DMSO) for fast tissue penetration. It produces minimal tissue compression and wrinkle-free sections and cuts to 4 μm thickness with excellent ribbon continuity.
Paraplast® tissue embedding media are made from highly purified wax combined with plastic polymers for tensile strength and elasticity. Paraplast Plus® provides rapid infiltration during processing as well as great compression resistance during sectioning for preserved morphology and thin, distortion-free sections.
Our range of Paraplast products improve the elasticity of brittle, difficult-to-cut tissues making it easier to produce excellent, wrinkle-free sections.

Application

Paraplast Plus® is recommended for large specimens and tissue that commonly presents infiltration problems. It has been used:
  • in the examination of vertebral specimens of Malacoraja senta.
  • in the identification and expression analysis of PIN genes in rice.
  • in the study of glucose transport mechanisms in uterine tissues during pregnancy.
  • to embed Bouin′s fixed carp tissues, rat ventral prostatic fragments, and common bean (Phaseolus vulgaris L.) nodules.

Features and Benefits

  • Produces minimal tissue compression and wrinkle-free sections, and cuts to 4 μm thickness with excellent ribbon continuity.
  • 0.8% DMSO enhances ease of infiltration and sectioning for tissues difficult to process with regular Paraplast.
  • Higher melt viscosity and lower permeability to water vapor creates better adhesion and a more pliable, flexible film.
  • Optimal infiltration and embedding for high-quality sections.
  • Great compression resistance and ribbon continuity.
  • Remarkable morphology preservation and distortion-free sections.

Ovarian tissue transplantation could be a valuable technique for the preservation of endangered animals. The domestic cat affords an adequate experimental model for studies aimed at wild felids due to its phylogenetic similarity. Thus, this pilot study evaluated the efficacy

Early fruit development is crucial for crop production in tomato. After fertilization, the ovary undergoes cell division and cell expansion before maturation. Although the roles of regulatory signals such as hormone and carbohydrate during early fruit development have been studied
