Silver nitrate has been used for Von Kossa staining for evaluating the mineralized matrix. It has also been used for staining culture for assessing mineralization during osteogenic differentiation. Silver nitrate is an inorganic compound that induces the protein conformational condition of amyloid A amyloidosis in mice. It also possesses antimicrobial activity against periodontal pathogens.
