Les albumines sont des protéines monomériques solubles présentes dans les liquides biologiques et les tissus animaux ainsi que dans certaines semences de plantes. L′albumine sérique fonctionne en tant que protéine porteuse des stéroïdes, acides gras et hormones thyroïdes. Les albumines sériques sont également essentielles à la régulation de la pression colloïde osmotique du sang.
L′albumine sérique fonctionne en tant que protéine porteuse des stéroïdes, acides gras et hormones thyroïdes, et est essentielle à la régulation de la pression colloïde osmotique du sang. L′albumine est également capable de se lier à certaines substances exogènes, en particulier les médicaments (p. ex., ibuprofène, warfarine) et influence fortement leurs propriétés pharmacocinétiques. Le stress oxydant, qui entraîne des changements de l′état d′oxydoréduction de l′albumine, exerce des effets divers sur sa fonction physiologique.
Albumin turnover is seen in infants with iron deficiency anemia. Serum albumin is a reliable prognostic indicator in liver disease. Oxidative modification of albumin is seen in advanced liver disease.

Application

Albumin from human serum has been used:
  • to standardize the column for molecular-exclusion chromatography
  • to prepare the tobacco mosaic virus (TMV)-poly ethylene glycol (PEG8)-serum albumin (SA) particles
  • to analyze its modifications after oxidation using a Fenton system

Albumin-bound fluorescence was used in serum of patients with chronic renal failure.

  5. Can Product A9511, Human serum albumin (HSA), be used for cell culture applications?

    Although A9511 is not sterile or endotoxin tested, it can probably still be used in cell culture. Filtering a solution of HSA through a 0.45 micron filter, then a 0.2 micron filter would provide a solution that is sterile, and likely suitable for cells. A5843 is an HSA product that has been endotoxin tested.
