Application

Les adjuvants de Freund peuvent servir à produire des émulsions eau-dans-huile d′immunogènes. Du fait de leur libération lente par l′émulsion, les antigènes présents dans les émulsions eau-dans-huile stimulent la réponse anticorps en l′augmentant et en la prolongeant dans le temps.
Les antigènes (de préférence en solution saline) sont généralement mélangés avec un volume équivalent de l′adjuvant pour former une émulsion.

Biochem/physiol Actions

La mycobactérie présente dans l′adjuvant complet de Freund attire les macrophages et d′autres cellules sur le site d′injection, ce qui renforce la réponse immunitaire. C′est pour cette raison que l′adjuvant complet de Freund est utilisé pour les injections initiales et que l′adjuvant incomplet de Freund sert aux injections de rappel suivantes.

General description

Chaque ml d'adjuvant complet de Freund contient 1 mg de mycobactérie  Mycobacterium tuberculosis  (H37Ra, ATCC 25177) tuée par voie thermique et déshydratée, 0,85 ml d'huile de paraffine et 0,15 ml de monooléate de mannide.
