      OverviewBiological thiols, such as cysteine (Cys), homocysteine (Hcy) and glutathione (GSH), play crucial roles in many physiological and pathological processes. GSH is the most abundant intracellular thiol and plays a central role in combating oxidative stress. Cys is an essential amino acid that is involved in protein synthesis, detoxication, and metabolism. Suboptimal levels of GSH and Cys is involved in several diseases. Elevated plasma total Hcy levels have been established as an independent risk factor for cardiovascular diseases, Alzheimer's disease, neural tube defects, and other diseases.

      The BioTracker Cys Hcy GSH triple live cell dye can be used for simultaneous detection of GSH and Cys/Hcy in living cells and tissues. GSH is detected in the red channel while Cys/Hcy are detected in the blue channel.
