Application

2-Methylimidazole can be used as:
  • A coordination regulator to fabricate 2D metal-organic framework-5 (MOF-5) nanosheet, which is used as an efficient catalyst for Knoevenagel condensation reaction.
  • An alkaline inducer in the synthesis of amorphous FeCoNi ternary hydroxide nanosheets applicable as an active electrocatalyst for oxygen evolution reaction.
  • A solvent system in combination with water to synthesize zeolitic imidazolate frameworks-8 (ZIF-8) membrane for the potential application in gas separation.

Twelve zeolitic imidazolate frameworks (ZIFs; termed ZIF-1 to -12) have been synthesized as crystals by copolymerization of either Zn(II) (ZIF-1 to -4, -6 to -8, and -10 to -11) or Co(II) (ZIF-9 and -12) with imidazolate-type links. The ZIF crystal

In this work, we have successfully synthesized a bimetallic (Zinc and Cobalt) Zeolitic Imidazolate Framework (Zn50Co50-ZIF), a class in a wider microporous Metal-Organic Framework (MOF) family. The synthesized nanostructures maintain both water stability like ZIF-8 (solely Zn containing) and charge
