Highly purified preparation. Useful in structural and functional studies of collagen metabolism. Catalyzes hydrolysis of native collagen to peptides.

Highly purified preparation. Useful in structural and functional studies of collagen metabolism. Catalyzes hydrolysis of native collagen to peptides. Has an optimal pH of 7.0-8.0.

Preparation Note

Following reconstitution refrigerate (4°C) for short-term storage or freeze (-20°C) for long-term storage. Stock solutions are stable for up to 4 days at 4°C and for up to 3 months at -20°C.
Reconstitute with 100 µl 50 mM Tris, 10 mM Ca(OAc)₂, pH 7.2.

Other Notes

One BTC (bovine tendon collagen) unit is defined as the amount of enzyme that will release 1.0 nmol Leu equivalent from collagen per min at 37°C, pH 7.2.
