General description

Aldicarb sulfoxide, cholinesterase inhibitor in insects, is formed from Temik during initial oxidation. It is persistent in soil and is rapidly translocated in plants.

Application

Refer to the product′s Certificate of Analysis for more information on a suitable instrument technique. Contact Technical Service for further support.
Aldicarb-sulfoxide may be used as a pesticide reference standard for the determination of the analyte in:
  • Fruits and vegetable using solid-phase extraction followed by liquid chromatography-atmospheric pressure chemical ionization mass spectrometry.
  • Water samples by gas chromatography/mass spectrometry (GC-MS) using short capillary columns.
  • Foodstuffs by liquid chromatography-tandem mass spectrometry (LC-MS/MS) using a triple quadrupole analyzer.

Legal Information

PESTANAL is a registered trademark of Merck KGaA, Darmstadt, Germany

1. The rate of sulphoxidation of aldicarb (2-methyl-2-(methylthio) propanal O-[(methylamino) carbonyl oxime], Temik) in rat hepatic, renal and pulmonary microsomes was determined by quantitating the levels of aldicarb sulphoxide and aldicarb sulphone produced during incubations.
